Amateur football club unveils plans for new home near Bolton-Bury border
PLANS have been submitted to build a new home for a football club on 15 acres of green land on the border of Bolton and Bury.
Westchurch Homes Limited and Bolton Wyresdale Amateur Football Club are planning the development on agricultural land off Radcliffe Moor Road.
It would consist of four football pitches, a new clubhouse and changing facilities and car parking.
Developers Westchurch last week submitted separate plans to Bolton Council to build 88 new homes on the Wyresdale FCâs current pitches off Inverberg Drive, Breightmet.
Club officials later told The Bolton News that their existing clubhouse had suffered water damage and excessive rainfall had made their first team pitch unplayable.
A planning application to Bury Council for the new football ground says the area in question is currently classified as green belt and is used as grazing fields.
A design and access statement reads: âThis application proposes to develop the site to create a new football facility consisting of four pitches, a changing and club house pavilion and a small storage container.
âIn addition, the application proposes external works to regrade the land to create level pitch areas and the provision of new parking areas. A new access will be formed off Radcliffe Moor Road.
âWhen complete, the facility is to be used by Bolton Wyresdale AFC who will relocate from their existing site off Inverberg Drive, Breightmet, Bolton.
âThe existing facilities are no longer fit for purpose and do not meet Sport England or LFA guidance.
âThe proposed development at the new Radcliffe Moor Road site, will provide fully compliant facilities and will secure the future sustainability of the football club.
âThe site is located on the border between Bury and Bolton, just off Bury New Road in the ward of Radcliffe North.
âBreightmet lies to the west of the site and Bradley Fold lies to the south.
âThe site is within two kilometres of Bradley Fold, Ainsworth, Little Lever and Breightmet, and within four kilometres of Radcliffe, Bury and Bolton.â
The plans for the football pitches are for two full size 11-a-side areas and two slightly smaller pitches for junior football use.
The plans say part of the site will be developed for car parking for up to 78 vehicles, four spaces would be for disabled use.
